Team Collaboration

How Studio plan team workspaces work in KinoViz — inviting members, roles, seat pricing, the async edit lock, and sharing projects via publish links.

Overview

Studio plan — coming soon. Team collaboration is part of the Studio plan, which is not yet available for purchase. This page previews what the plan will include.

Team collaboration features are available on the Studio plan only. A Studio workspace lets multiple team members work on shared projects, manage roles, and coordinate through an async edit-lock system that prevents conflicting changes.

See Billing & Plans for plan pricing or visit kinoviz.com/pricing.

Team Workspace

A Studio workspace is a shared environment separate from individual accounts. It has its own project library, billing, and member management.

Creating a Workspace

  1. Upgrade to the Studio plan from kinoviz.com/pricing or Settings → Billing.
  2. Name your workspace (e.g., your company or team name).
  3. You become the owner of the workspace.

Workspace vs. Personal Projects

Projects created inside a workspace are owned by the workspace, not an individual. If a team member leaves, their workspace projects remain accessible to the rest of the team.

Inviting Team Members

To invite someone to your workspace, go to Settings → Team and use the invite option. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite, assign a role, and send the invite.

The invitee receives an email with a link to accept the invitation. If they do not have a KinoViz account, they are prompted to create one first.

Roles and Permissions

Studio workspaces support role management. Roles control what each member can view, edit, and administer within the workspace. The workspace owner can assign and change roles at any time from Settings → Team.

Seats Management

The Studio plan includes 3 seats by default. Each additional seat costs $12/month.

SeatsMonthly Add-on
3 (included)$0
4+ $12
5+ $24
N+ (N − 3) × $12

Seat changes take effect on your next billing cycle or are prorated — check the billing dialog for exact amounts.

Edit Lock

KinoViz uses an async edit lock model — not real-time simultaneous editing. Only one team member can edit a project at a time, preventing conflicting changes.

How Edit Lock Works

  1. When a team member opens a project for editing, they acquire the edit lock.
  2. Other team members can open the project in read-only (view) mode.
  3. When the lock holder closes the project or manually releases the lock, the next person to open the project acquires the lock.

The exact lock-timeout and lock-request UI behaviors depend on the current version of the Studio editor.

Sharing Projects (Publish Links)

Studio workspaces can share a public link to any project — no KinoViz account required to view.

  • Quota: up to 10,000 views per month on the Studio plan.
  • Embed: generate an iframe embed code to place animations on your website.
  • CDN: assets are served via CDN for fast delivery.

To revoke access, disable the public link from the share/publish settings.
